Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland – LEGO Robotics Program

LEGO Robotics Program

Quake Energy is very happy to announce its recent $5,000 contribution to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland! With this contribution, the BGCC has launched a partnership with the Northeast Ohio Robotics Alliance to bring kids ages 9-14 a one-of-a-kind opportunity to take part in the FIRST LEGO League. This international program will form teams of kids who will join forces to assemble their very own robots that will go on to challenge other teams. The goal is to teach cooperation and relationship development – skills that will help prepare children to work together effectively in their future careers. Get more details here!

Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland serve as a safe and productive space for youth in the city and surrounding areas. What initially began as the Boys Club in 1954 in Cleveland’s Slavic Village neighborhood has since spread like wildfire. The Boys Club was first created to keep boys off the streets during times they were not attending school. However, one club quickly became two and in 1976, girls began to join prompting the final name change to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland. The clubs now serve as a safe space for children ages 6-18 to grow and have fun while learning how to be healthy, responsible leaders.

For just a small annual fee of $10, each child age 6-18 in Cleveland can become a Club member and gain access to gymnasiums, art rooms, computer labs, libraries, teen centers and outdoor play areas, not to mention hot meals and help with homework and even workforce development. While the Clubs provide kids and teens with comprehensive after-school programs, they also have summer programs as well, making sure that each and every Club member has a positive and fun environment to take part in all year round.
